Sisi Ni, Inc. (“Sisi Ni”, “we”, “us”) is a charitable organization registered in the United States. We support refugee families at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi. This policy explains what personal information we collect through sisini.org, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Who we are

Sisi Ni, Inc. is based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA. If you would like to reach us about anything in this policy, please use our contact page.

What we collect

When you donate

To process a donation and send you a receipt, we collect your name, email address, donation amount, the designation you choose (General Fund, Microloans or Field Mothers), and whether the gift is one-off or recurring. If you write us a note on the donation form, we keep that too.

We never see or store your card details. Card information is entered directly into a secure form provided by our payment processor, Square, and is handled entirely by them. We receive only a confirmation and a transaction reference.

When you subscribe to our newsletter

We collect your email address, and your name if you give it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send.

When you contact us

We collect whatever you choose to send us – typically your name, email address and your message – so that we can reply.

Automatically, as you browse

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep the site working properly – for example, remembering what is in your donation form as you complete it, and remembering your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again.

You can control cookies through the banner shown when you first visit, and through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the site, including the donation form, from working.

Who we share information with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not share our donor list with other organizations.

We share information only with the service providers that make the site work, and only as far as they need it:

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Donation records are kept for as long as US charity and tax rules require, because both we and our donors may need them for tax purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to:

Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the GDPR in the UK and the European Union.

Stories and photographs

The stories, photographs and artwork on this site are published with the permission of the people featured and of the artists who made the work. If you are featured on this site and would like your story or image removed, please contact us and we will do so.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and payment details go straight to our payment processor rather than to us. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
